Help! I was banned for a DOS attack!

So we've had a few people contact us about this issue lately, so I figured it's a good time to explain what's going on!

If you're ever on FAM and receive a message stating you were banned for a DOS attack, don't panic! This is triggered (most often) by either having lots of tabs open at once, or refreshing a whole lot. When you do this. the website thinks you're attempting to perform what is known as a DoS attack, or Denial of Service, by overloading it with lots of page refreshes. This slows things down, and can actually bring the site down if it's bad enough. So what the system does for us is sees that some unusual page loading activity is happening, and it stops it to prevent the site from crashing.

If you get hit with this, don't panic! It will clear up on its own. Of course, if we find out this is being done on purpose, the users responsible will be permanently removed from the site.

If anyone has any questions about this, feel free to ask!

I'm only mean out of necessity.
