I hate tattling, but I hate the claiming of someone else's work as one's own even more.

I saw a friend with an alt early today that was wearing a really grainy portrait. The art was stunningly similar to that of my friend DrVirus' (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/drvirus, and she has a link to her older art on there, too), so I asked her where she got it, and she directed me here.

The port in the middle here is a bad edit of one of my friends' old images, too. Compare in style to the ports beside it, and then to Virus' art.

Compare all of that to the rest of Kata's portrait gallery. http://kata-ports.deviantart.com/gallery/

And compare that to this, which she claims to have done for a pet website.

Just... look at it. There is nothing unifying about anything at all whatsoever in her gallery. http://kata.deviantart.com/gallery/

This is not right. Keep a look out, artists, to make sure your own work isn't stolen. As for Virus and I, I can't say we're sure what to do about this. Loss of credibility is a severe punishment in its own right, but I don't think she should be allowed to keep her dA account up if it's full of stolen artwork. Is there anything that can be done to get this taken down and perhaps teach her a lesson about how intolerable art theft is?

Edited to note: Virus doesn't have the originals of the stolen work, because they're really old and she's lost the files. Still, I think the similarities are obvious, and in any case, old art or not, it's the principle of the thing!
